It's Bank Holiday Monday. The weather is gross. It's cold, windy, with constant rain. Not that refreshing, dramatic rain, where the sky seems to drop to the earth and wash away the dirt and grime leaving everything fresh and clean, but it's that energy sapping, pathetic rain.
It was only a few weeks ago that I was sitting in the park in the sun, reading or chatting with a friend. The weather was so nice I bought some shorts and flip flops (the shorts arrived in time for the cold weather to return). On days like that it is so easy to praise God.
But today is the day the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it. Yes, wet, gross Bank Holiday Monday is given by the Lord as much as the hot, sunny weekend we had a fortnight ago. So, let us rejoice and be glad.
