Still Alive

Term has started back, and I've survived so far. Okay, so there has only been two weeks of youth clubs, but there was a lot to deal with even before term started.

The Sunday before schools went back, four of my teenagers got baptised, so there was arranging all that. There were testimonies to read, songs to pick, Bible studies to organise, questions to answer, not to mention what happened on the actual day. The most nerve wracking thing was that I was doing the actual baptising. I was slightly worried that one of the teens wouldn't emerge out of the water. They all did. In fact, due to the natural buoyancy of humans the hard bit is making sure all of them go in the water. It was quite a horrible experience of having to push people down, a little as if I was drowning them.

The weather beforehand was a little horrible, but just as we went into the water it became really sunny and nice. There are some really good photos with people standing around with blowing hair and windsurfers in the background, but because of child protection stuff that's all you're getting.

It feels that since then it's been pretty much non-stop. I've met up with some teens a few times and been preparing the the next year. It doesn't help that the college I work for in my other job is having an Ofsted inspection next week. Also, Fridays are really long days for me. I'm up at 6 to get to my college job, back home for five, get changed and out the door for half five and not back until gone ten (sometimes as late as 11). The first week of having to do this hit me especially hard. At one point I was crouching in the catering cupboard repeatedly muttering, "I just want some teaspoons." By the time I'm leaving my brain is pretty much gone. Last Friday I forgot to lock up so the offices, and front door were all open. I did remember to set the alarm though.

I'm just about surviving. That's more than can be said for my phone. I dropped it down a flight of stairs.

Quick Questions

  2. What's the biggest source of stress in your life?
  3. How do you deal with stress? (A nice cuppa? A walk? You don't?!)
